Flash Player Security
Worried that a Flash movie on a site you visit is taking control of your Webcam and broadcasting pictures of you all over the Net? Or that a site is able to use a Flash movie to turn on your microphone, and eavesdrop on your conversations? There has been a lot of blogging done on the access that Flash movies have to your Webcam and microphone. For example, see the links in this blog entry on Flash Privacy from "mesh on MX", posted in May of 2002. John Dowdell blogged about this recently, in an attempt to dispell the belief--apparently held by quite a few people--that the Flash player can turn on your Webcam without your explicit permission. It can't.
