Internet TV Shows Ready For Prime Time?
According to an
article at CNET, Sony is developing a plasma screen TV that will grab video streams from local networks (e.g., a home network) and from the Internet. The TV was initially to have been sold in Japan starting in June 2003, but technical problems have forced Sony to delay the product's release. It will be sold in the U.S. if the product sells well in Japan, according to CNET.

Move Over, VCR
Sony hopes to make a big splash with three new
digital video recorders which will have broadband connectivity, and can be programmed from a cell phone. According to the article at CNET, the DVRs are currently available in Japan, and will eventually be sold in the U.S.

With more and more devices aimed at video on the Web, one has to wonder: how long will it be before shows with the same production values as those of the TV networks start being streamed on the Internet?

Cheap PCs: Get Them While They're Hot
A recent
study reported at CNET News.com says that PC prices have hit all-time lows. They report that the average price of a desktop system in February was $717, while the average price of a notebook was $1,311.

I have purchased several inexpensive systems through mail order vendors over the years, with mostly good results. My favorite store in the Twin Cities, however, has got to be General NanoSystems. If you haven't done so yet, check out their Website. Or better yet, stop in and say hello; they're open until 8 PM Monday through Friday...
